I’m revisiting a post I wrote last year about love as a prelude to a new and FREE 6-part video series I collaborated on recently about LOVE. As members of my community, you get first access to the series. And, (no pun intended) I think you’ll love it. Through conversations with experts in the area of love and relationships, we cover how to understand men better, set boundaries, show up in relationships and what to do if you find yourself in a codependent relationship or one with a narcissist or gaslighter (that’s a juicy one!). Caveat: While this series was geared toward heterosexual relationships, the ideas and principles discussed are applicable to any intimate relationship.

Now, onto the topic of love…

We often think of love as something that must be attained. Something that exists outside of ourselves. A feeling that can only be felt with another.

And so we go searching.

For that one.

Or that many.

All in an attempt to feel connected and loved.

How funny that we overlook the fact that love can only be experienced on the inside - AND, perhaps, more importantly, that love is never far since it forms the very backdrop to our true nature.

Not convinced? Watch a baby. They unabashedly illustrate the purest forms of our nature without a lot of thought.

And love? Well, a baby falls in love and experiences love (when they are not experiencing physical discomfort) virtually every moment of their day. They are endlessly fascinated and enamored of the world and the people around them.

They love a puddle. A reflection. The blue sky. A soft blanket. A torn blanket. The green grass. Drops of rain. The taste of ice cream. A butterfly. The glistening of a spiderweb. A dust bunny. The garbage truck. A box.

It doesn’t seem to matter. They are in love with the world at large because their nature is to love and to experience connection with everything around them.

And what about us?

It’s not so different. We’ve just forgotten how close the feeling of love resides within us.

Not convinced?

Think of a person or a pet that you absolutely love.

Can you feel it?

Can you feel the love that naturally and effortlessly bursts forward when you think of them?

Where is that feeling being experienced?

And how do you know that you love that person?

Both answers point to our true nature…which…as illustrated by the baby…just is.

Love is who and what we are when we come home to ourselves.

There is no need to search for it out there or think that we can only experience it under certain circumstances.

We are love.

And we can experience it any time we want.

It’s just our nature.
