How to keep your head above water

Does it seem like in every corner of the world people are hurting?

Turn on the news and chaos and confusion abound.

It can all be too much at times, can’t it?

Too much anger.

Too much hate.

Too much injustice.

Too much intolerance.

Too much misunderstanding.

Too much misinformation.

Too much disregard.

Too much inequality.

Too much cruelty.

It is no wonder it feels like too much.

It is.

And it hurts because all of this ‘too much’ is so far removed from who we really are.

And so,

I say to you…it’s okay.

It’s okay to not be okay.

Really.

It IS okay to not be okay.

And the thing is, the more we simply allow ourselves to feel what we’re feeling without trying to dismiss, ignore or make it wrong, the more easily it will pass.

Take time.

Be gentle.

Feel what you feel.

Let yourself be okay with not being okay.

It is okay.

And it will be okay.
